Online Marketing Show

The side-effects from exhibiting at this year’s Online Marketing Show consisted of a sore face from smiling for two days straight, bizarre dreams of the hypnotic LiveMarketer bubbles and the ability to sum up what IgnitionOne does at a speed rivalling most horseracing commentators.IgnitionOne UK was one of 475 exhibitors taking part in the Show. It attracted a record-breaking 13,396 marketers through the doors of London’s Grand Olympia venue, making it Europe’s largest trade marketing event and a bustling hub for marketing innovation. Marketers from over 50 of the global top 100 brands, and 34 of the UK’s top 50 brands included Coca Cola and Lexus.

The IgnitionOne booth lured many people who caught themselves walking towards the LiveMarketer screen with the infamous bubbles (this could have also been because we tweeted that we had ‘bubbles’ at our stand- technically true). Our staff showed great versatility in providing advice on everything from the definition of attribution, to how the DMS could make the digital marketing work day easier to even giving interviews to an Iranian media news channel on why consolidation of marketing technology makes sense.

There was a definite competitive buzz in the air between exhibitors as well, keen digital media students- were quick to tell us which booths were offering the best promotional items. Long gone are the days of the humble USB stick which now has to compete with iPhone cases, fresh goat’s cheese popcorn (nicer than it sounds), iPod speaker docks, pina colada slushies and water filtering drinkbottles! Our competition prize offering two Apple TVs received hundreds of entries and even a couple of failed bribes!

Our presence didn’t stop at the booth though, IgnitionOne also presented in the thought-leadership speaking sessions. VP of Global Strategy, James Yancey hosted a session in the Search, Affiliate and Display arena on the urgent need to overcome attribution excuses, while Head of Client Solutions for Europe, Ollie Bath spoke in the Multi Channel Arena about IgnitionOne’s unique ability to use a single onsite score across all media to better weight the value of each media channel.

Despite the sore face and kooky dreams- there was a clear consensus among staff who attended that it was a worthwhile two days packed full of marketing innovation, excitement around the possibilities of the future of digital marketing, not to mention a number of new business meetings scheduled. Rumour has it a certain Sales Director (Stewart Holt) is now also a cult hit among Iranian TV audiences…
